Significance of the Olive Branch Logo
The symbolism of the olive branch dates back to both classical and biblical times. Winners at the Ancient Greek Olympic games were crowned with olive wreaths, symbolizing victory. Pax, the Roman goddess of peace, as well as her Greek counterpart, Eirene were both frequently depicted holding an olive branch, hence the olive branch being a symbol of peace in modern times (‘’Why does an olive branch mean peace’’, www.theweek.co.uk, 9 May 2018). The dove returning to Noah’s ark after the great flood with an olive branch in its beak is the first mention of the olive branch in the Bible and is also symbolic of peace.
Achieving inner peace and the victory which emanates from realizing one’s goals and dreams are central aspects of coaching. The olive tree is also resilient, enduring and fruitful, all of which qualities are desirable for a life well-lived and coaching can provide invaluable support in developing these qualities.
